During our past meeting we went over the many ways to get involved in BMES at FAU. It is important to become a registered member through the FAU collegiate link, as well as fill out a membership form on our website to keep up to date with the exciting new things happening with our club.
There is a membership fee through the BMES parent organization of $30, which will be discussed in more detail at the next meeting. We will also be sending out emails to all members with updates on this.
The annual conference will be held in Tampa, FL this year on October 7-10. Since our club is just getting started, we do not have an abstract to submit this year, but we would like to begin forming a committee for next year’s conference to plan and organize projects.
There are many opportunities to get involved with BMES, we have some awesome events lined up for the fall semester that will provide research and volunteer hours in the field of Biomedical Engineering. These include:
- Heart Walk
- Bionic Hand Project
- Ebola Virus Project: currently on hold. We have a piece of synthetic Ebola gene, and transformed it to bacteria and into E. coli, now we are about to start up PCR.
Biomedical Engineering is a very diverse field of study, and our members currently have a very wide range of subject interests and knowledge bases. We are looking for anyone with an interest in medicine, biology, physics, engineering, research, or leadership. Come out to one of our meetings or send us an email if you are even slightly interested!
For any further questions on how to become a member, or on any of our upcoming events please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
